Hair Brand Claims Same Trademark Name As Perfume Line

Sean John Sued Over
Sean “Diddy” Combs is being sued by Empress Haircare Products over the name 'Empress,' which is also being used by a perfume created by the Sean John Clothing Company. The Haircare brand filed suit alleging that Sean John attempted to trademark the name Empress, despite knowing that they trademark was owned by Empress Haircare Products.
A second application filed by Sean John was also rejected. Diddy's brand then contacted Empress Haircare to try and resolve the issue. Nonetheless, Sean John is being sued for infringement of a federally registered trademark and unfair comeptition.
The haircare brand wants damages totaling three times the amount suffered, plus three times the profits that Sean John has earned from Empress perfume.
