While we get into winter day by day, I thank God for more blessings that keep coming my way day by day! Besides getting married in a beautiful fashion to a beautiful man and acquiring a new additional name, the last two months have been busy as usual with a series of serious doses of music from HIFA, Fashion from SANAA and more Music fromIOMMA.

The musical acts included a host of internationally renowned singers and musicians including Tumi Molekane, Edith WeUtonga, Kingswood College Band, Maia Von Lekow,Maria De Barros , Pé na Terra, South African guitarist Derek Gripper, Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe to mention a few.
Workshops on dance, song writing, networking and a host of other interesting topics also took place ensuring that aspirant and participating artists had activities to occupy their time whilst also acquiring new information and skills.

@ SANAA AFRICA 2012
On the 23rd may 2012, the SANAA Africa Festival, a great platform for African creatives to ply their wares while acquiring exposure came around and for the 2nd year, I got the chance to showcase my new mini-range “The Royal African Affair!
My Romantic-era –inspired range in celebration of Africa Day dwelled on kitenge and basinas the base of the story and the royal affair was finally revealed and brought to life while introducing detail such as silhouettes and other elements inspired by the 18th Century.
After the year 1815 women's dresses suddenly became increasingly fussy and decorative, as skirts became fuller, and the waistline gradually descended to the natural waist. Severe corseting also returned, as did layers of petticoats, the hats & gloves.
This era inspired the mini-range I showcased and the range eventually encompassed a bit from the 18th Century using local African prints such as basin, kitenge, beaded corsettes and lovely African Gazelles to strut down the ramp and present the story depicting a Royal African Affair!
Other fashion designers such as Gugu Mlambo from Gugulam, Hanwanu Nengovhela ofRubicon, Ephymol, House of Ole, Palse Homme, Sylvester Falata and Thunderstorm all presented innovative and cutting edge fashion items much to the thrill of their audiences in celebration of the African Day.
LIZ OGUMBO PERFORMS
@ INDIAN OCEAN MUSIC MARKET 2012
And finally the Indian Ocean music market wrapped up the month of May into the beginning of June in a beautiful island (Reunion Island). IOMMA, an acronym for the Indian Ocean Music Market was a hive of activity, held between the 29th and the 31st of May, with this year’s performances raging from blends of Soul and Jazz to Hip Hop and Electro sounds.
Besides the heavy ups and downs such as last minute drop outs from the band, the search for last minute local musos and the fact that I forgot my 2 pairs of heels at the hotel and only realized when it was time to get on stage, I poured out my KenSoul with everything I had left in me!
I also got a chance to get high off of other musical acts and my highest moments was watching Calypso Rose wining her 72-year old waist and running the stage like she just turned 22. Besides her, there were other beautiful sounds from artists such as Sully et Les Charmans, Iza, Ben Sharper, Yaourt Soul experience, Tumi, Ayo and so many more…..
Thank you to all my fans along with my continued support from Mi-Fone, the 1st African manufacturing handset and keep it locked on my creative journey
Yours fabulously,
