Moscow-based Olympic City Group on Wednesday announced plans to build a Russian cultural complex in the UAE.
The company said it has embarked on a study to set up the complex which will include an opera and ballet theatre, museum, hotel, apartment hotel, and apartments.
The announcement was made during a second meeting held by the company with the UAE Ibiza Company in Dubai, Olumpic City Group said in a statement.
Aleksey Semenyachenko, Olympic City Group chairman, said: "The idea of setting up the Russian Cultural Complex in the UAE is in line with our keenness to develop the relations between the UAE and Russia.
"We seek to develop the relation between both nations and people and strive to introduce the Russian ballet, arts and culture to the UAE people and expatriate residents through ballet dance performances and Russian art shows."
He added that he expected the project to receive a good response from the whole Middle East region.
The Russian Cultural Complex will house a grand theatre, equipped with the latest technology, to host various ballet performances and shows.
The design of the theatre building - inspired by the Monte Carlo Opera House, home of original Russian Seasons - is already finished.
Mohammed Al Bloushi, Ibiza director general, said: "Work is underway on the details of the project, which will mark a new start of the art of ballet in the Middle East."
He said the location of the Russian Cultural Complex has not been decided yet, but added it would be "either in Abu Dhabi or Dubai".
Olympic City Group is a development group made up of more than 100 companies developing various projects both in Russia and abroad.
In March, Dubai announced plans to follow neighbour Abu Dhabi in establishing a cultural district which will include a museum, two arthotels and an opera house.
Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also UAE vice president and prime minister, announced the launch of the Dubai Modern Art Museum and Opera House District to be located in Emaar's flagship Downtown Dubai.
The Dubai Modern Art Museum and Opera House District aims to build on Dubai's 50 art galleries and festivals such as Art Dubai in attracting high-end cultural tourists.
