Peruvian-born Alvaro Ilizarbe is the artist/designer behind FREEGUMS. Miami based, he explores space, patterns and the energy that lies in-between. His most recent project saw him take over a Toronto gallery with The Narwhal exhibition, transforming the space by black and white patterns on amorphous wooden pieces, hung on identically patterned wallpaper. The wood paintings' swirling lines blend seamlessly into the background, becoming one-revealing the awareness of spatial energy that lies between oneself and the object.
Title: A Bit of Spacial Tension
ABOUT THE DESIGN
For this body of work, Alvaro Ilizarbe is exploring space, patterns and the energy that lies in between. Contrasting line work creates a visual vibration and a tension within the work. Through this, Alvaro is revealing the awareness of spatial energy that lies between oneself and the object.
