Diamond studded fountain pen by Graf von Faber-Castell

How hard can it be to manufacture a writing instrument that can also be called a jewel. Take this piece here, a diamond studded fountain pen created by the famous manufacturer of writing instruments Graf von Faber-Castell. Just by looking at it you’d be staggered of its immense complexity, while the level of intricacy required to place such precious jewels in those tight spaces is unimaginably high.
A limited edition collection of fountain pens, they sport yellow gold bodies and embellishment with 58 diamonds, totaling 4.6 carats. In addition, two Brazilian Madeira citrines have also been mounted on them. As for the barrels, they are shaped out of grained ancient wetland oak wood and have been garnished with 18 carat solid gold.
Adding to the exquisiteness factor, the end cap, the pen cap and all sorts of other metal parts included by the pens are plated with pure gold. The nib comes from a different dimension, to be honest, being shaped out of bi-polar 18 carat gold.
The limited edition Graf von Faber-Castell diamond studded fountain pen marks the 10th anniversary of the Pen of the Year Collection, which retails at Harrods, and was crowned as the Pen of the Year 2012 Diamond Edition.
Even though the Pen of the Year 2007 by Graf von Faber-Castell used to boast a hefty price tag of £1,840 (around $3,000), it was easily acquirable. The 2012 model though is far away from being considered cheap, being priced at a mind-boggling £60,000 (or around $96,600 at current exchange rates).
