The New 2014 Porsche Cayman Coupe Unveiled

The 2014 Porsche Cayman has been recently revealed by the German automaker at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, following the presentations of the 911 Carrera Convertible and Coupé models. The Cayman is based on the Porsche Boxster but comes with complete redesigning and reengineering.
It has been fitted with a lightweight body design, resulting in an 30 kg / 66 lbs improved ratio than the previous model. The body is also 40% stiffer now. The six-cylinder engine is way more efficient and powerful, ensuring 15% lower fuel consumption and stunning performance. Measuring 50.9 inches in height, 70.9 inches in width and 172.4 inches in length, the Porsche Cayman MK2 (or MK3, according to Porsche) is a bit longer than its predecessor, lower and features wider tracks. Its wheelbase has also been enlarged, measuring 97.4 inches.
The interior of the brand new Porsche Cayman has been fitted with more storage space, brand new gadgetry, more efficient equipment and higher quality materials, just like the Porsche 981 Boxster. There are 425 liters of luggage capacity available, 15 more than its predecessor.
Engine wise, the Cayman MK2 sports the same powerplants as the Boxster, but with 10 HP increased output. For example, the basic version encompasses a 2.7-liter flat six engine replacing the ex 2.9-liter engine, now developing 271 HP and boosting the car from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) as fast as 5.7 seconds when equipped with the standard 6-speed manual transmission, 5.6 seconds if fitted with the PDK dual-clutch unit and a better 5.4 seconds with the Sport Chrono kit. The 3.4-liter flat-6 Porsche Cayman S boasts with an output of 321 HP, doing the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in roughly 5 seconds with the manual transmission, 4.9 seconds with PDK and 4.7 seconds with Sport Chrono package.
The pricing of these models is far away from what we call cheap. In the United States, the brand new Porsche Cayman will be available in showrooms during the spring of 2013 starting at $52,600 for the regular Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman , without the $950 destination charge. In the UK the Cayman’s price starts at £39,694, or €68,460 in Ireland, while the Cayman S version starts at £48,783 , or €84,136.
