The tradition of Italian footwear manufacturing has been reinterpreted for the 21st century thanks to a new partnership between Tod's and award-winning Japanese design studio Nendo and its celebrated architect Oki Sato.
Dubbed the “Envelope Boat Shoe,” the collaborative endeavour is a new take on Tod’s signature deck shoes and takes its name from the way in which it swathes around the wearer’s foot. Pairing a soft leather vamp with suede quarter panels and a matching backstay, the release couples the specially-designed upper with a classic rubber sole and breathable mesh interior. Capping off the look is a distinctive fastening detail with a duo of matte silver studs.
Handmade exclusively in Italy with the perfect harmony of casual and elegant, the Nendo-designed kicks – which was recently launched in Milan at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014 – will soon be available in its entirety range of shades at Tod’s stockists globally.
